1Challenge

Freight had been managed apart from the bill of materials. As output grew, charges rose out of proportion to production, and well-known incumbent couriers and over-the-road carriers were not offering their best rates.

2Approach

  • Mapped every freight movement, its frequency and capacity needs after recent manufacturing changes
  • Expanded OTR and courier RFQs to new providers across about 1,800 shipping lanes, negotiating directly with carriers and removing brokers
  • Extended the same rate discounts to every client location, not just the main plant
